If you’ve ever been curious about growing miniature trees in a pot, the Mother Lode Bonsai Club invites you to a Design and Skills Workshop on Saturday, October 1 at San Andreas Central Library, 1299 Gold Hunter Road (near Mountain Ranch Road) in San Andreas.
The monthly members’ meeting begins at 10 am and will be immediately followed by the public workshop. There are no participation fees. Club mentors will provide ideas and hands-on training in bonsai care and design.
Past and current members are encouraged to bring a plant/tree, wire, tools and a table cover for the workshop. Others should come with their questions to learn more about this ancient craft. This will be an opportunity to meet members of the local bonsai community, see how to raise miniature trees and get information on different types of plants, recommended tools, preferred pots, soil materials and d other basic supplies. A raffle is also planned to give away bonsai items.
For more information about the Mother Lode Bonsai Club, contact Doug Lau at (209) 588-8106, or [email protected] Everyone is welcome to attend club meetings, demonstrations and workshops, regardless of their level of bonsai experience. Members hail from Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne counties, as well as the San Joaquin Valley.
