GNDU will host the SPRIBT festival from March 14

AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University will organize the Spring Festival of Flowers, Plants and Rangoli from March 14 to 16 at the premises of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan. This festival is organized by the Department of Landscaping and the Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences with the sponsorship of Major Paramjit Singh Pammi SM (Rtd).

Dr. JS Bilga Consultant Horticulture said that this event is organized under the guidance of Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, to sensitize the masses in general and the students in particular on the importance of the beauty of nature and the cleanliness of the environment around us. .

While giving details about the festival, Mr. Gurwinder Singh Landscape Officer said that in this festival, competitions are open to individuals, institutions, colleges and schools. He said the collection of pots and Rangoli entries will be on March 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on March 15 the official inauguration of the exhibition will take place at 1:00 p.m. and will be open to the public until 6:00 p.m. The prize distribution function will take place on March 16 at 3:30 p.m.

Dr JS Bilga said different varieties of flowers such as Aster Antirrhinum, Dahlia, Marigold, Pansy, Petunia, Stock Salvia and Seasonal & other flowers will be exhibited. In the Foliage/Ornamental Plants category, Aglaonema, Asparagus, Coleus Crotons, Dieffenbachia, Dracaena, Ferns, Ficus, Palms and Leafy Plants will be included in the festival. In the Cacti and Succulents category, grafted cacti, non-grafted cacti, succulents, etc. and bonsai and ornamental plants will be exhibited. Rangoli with flowers and Rangoli with artificial materials will be the important part of this festival. Apart from that a large number of nursery stalls, gardening equipment, flower pots and stalls of organic and organic edibles and other decorative materials relating to gardening will be part of this event.

Winners would be encouraged and rewarded based on expert judgment on the third and final day of the show. All preparations for the exhibition have been completed and information has been sent to all educational institutions. All lovers of the environment and flowers are invited to take full advantage of these three days to enjoy the beauty of nature.
