Moment of Zen: Working on the LEGO bonsai is engaging and meditative. (Photo: LEGO)

Building LEGO sets can be a soothing way to spend an evening, especially when you’ve had enough of staring at screens. Like crafting, LEGO “work” is a great stress reducer. But most kits are made for kids, or hard to keep (not everyone wants to have a scale model of Hogwarts sitting on the coffee table). That’s why LEGO is making more and more sets for adults.

LEGO plants are some of our favorites – they’re actually add to your decor, rather than taking it away – and they’re currently $10 off on Amazon.

Shipping is free, but you can start your kits even earlier with Amazon Prime. Do not have an account yet? Sign up here for a free trial. Remember: The holidays are coming. You might want to take advantage of this offer to pick up (and put away) some freebies.

Real bonsai are hard work, but a LEGO version is stress-free fun. It’s a fairly manageable 878 pieces, and buyers rave about how entertaining it is. One builder calls it “incredibly easy” thanks to the way the parts are separated into numbered bags, and says it’s “a wonderful piece of nostalgia”. This gentleman put his own together in an hour and a half, “drinking and enjoying a bit of jazz while doing it, to help wind down after a long week at work.” He adds: “In my opinion, there is just something therapeutic in the botanical collection.

Fully assembled, the LEGO Bonsai always draws plenty of raves, with one buyer, who displays their bonsai on the mantel, gradually evolving their tree with the (included) pink flowers (which are actually a mix of tiny pink flowers and tiny pink frogs) and: “Depending on the season, it begins its slow change from leafy green to cherry blossom. Visitors to my house assume it’s natural until I mention to them to come closer….” Many builders like to swap between leaves and flowers depending on the season.

This dad is “in love with the fact that the majority of ‘cherry blossoms’ are tiny pink frogs…” He also appreciates “the little ‘facts’ printed throughout the instruction manual.” It’s a great kit!

The LEGO Bonsai kit is normally $50, but right now it’s $40. It’s also very hard to get, so you should buy one before it’s sold out again!

For something more colorful, there’s the LEGO Flower Bouquet, a detailed rendition of flowers like roses, daisies and poppies. Each flower comes with a long stem (which you also build), so you can display them in your favorite vase or jar. For one buyer, it was “love to […] at first sight”, thanks to the “combination of beauty and functionality” of the LEGO flower bouquet. His whole family was “blown away by the final masterpiece….”

Some customers have found this a bit difficult to assemble due to the small pieces, but the instructions are “step by step and… easy to follow”. This grandma says it’s not easy to ride but she “didn’t want it to be easy…you accepted a challenge! That’s part of the fun of working with LEGOs.

And many buyers love how these flowers will stay beautiful forever. Working solo on the LEGO flower bouquet can be meditative, but working together can create a great bonding experience – one parent says: ‘My daughter, son and I loved building this together because we each got to pick a few flowers to work. au.” Now that the final product is on display, they remember the experience “with fondness every time we see it.”

This intricate set usually costs $50, but is currently discounted by almost $10. And, like bonsai, it tends to quickly disappear from the shelves. Take advantage of the sale price today so you can add some color to your winter months.
