Northampton County Open House Farm Tour – The Morning Call
The Northampton County Open Gate Farm Tour will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. next Saturday and Sunday, with 18 sites offering tours, demonstrations and produce. 1. HARDBALL CIDER, 805 Orchard Road, Upper Mount Bethel Township
Hardball Cider, Wine and Orchard is dedicated to tradition and quality. Apples are pressed on the fifth-generation family farm, with local food trucks and live music performers from April through December. 2. JOHNSONVILLE FARM AND GARDEN, 154 Johnsonville Road, Upper Mount Bethel Township
Johnsonville Farm & Garden is a cooperative agricultural complex with a granary, greenhouses, indoor market and community agricultural space. The farm will offer educational tours and workshops throughout the facility as well as tastings of locally grown foods at the market. Games for children and agricultural equipment on display. 3. MILLER’S EGG RANCH, 96 Mount Bethel Road, Upper Mount Bethel Township

4. THE VINEYARDS OF TOLINO, 280 Mount Pleasant Road, Washington Township
Tolino Vineyards is a production facility as well as a well-known entertainment venue. The winery offers tours of the 10-acre property and a view of the production area and the winery. There is live music on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays as well as food trucks on Saturdays and Sundays. 5. GLENMAR NURSERY AND GARDEN CENTRE, 746 Copella Road, Moore Township
Glenmar Nursery sells and grows quality landscape plants, including the largest selections of trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals in the Lehigh Valley. The center also sells a wide range of water garden supplies, koi and fish ponds, and bird food and feeders. Fall decorations are also available for sale. And ask to feed the big koi fish in the display ponds. The Bonsai Society of the Lehigh Valley will have an exhibit on various trees and will be available for any questions. 6. NORTHAMPTON COUNTY 4-H CENTER, 777 Bushkill Center Road, Bushkill Township
The Northampton County 4-H Center was purchased in the mid-1960s as the home base for the 4-H program and 4-H fair. The site consists of a show building, kitchens, a barn and a show ring, all available for hire by the public. During the open house tour there will be the famous 4-H Chicken BBQ, starting at noon while supplies last, food stalls, 4-H displays, farm equipment displays antique, Northampton County Junior Conservation School and more. 7. JUNIPERDALE FARM/THE CRIB OF PRODUCTS, 1015 Browntown Road, Plainfield Township
This farm is family owned and produces approximately 20 acres of fruits and vegetables, cash crops and farm animals. There will be wagon rides to the pumpkin patch with pumpkins still on the vine, a small petting zoo as well as fruits, vegetables and refreshments including the farm’s burgers and hot dogs. 8. BALANCE, 524 Fehr Road, Bushkill Township
Equi-librium is a non-profit farm offering therapeutic riding activities. The farm is a leading accredited center of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Riding. For over 40 years, Equi-librium has provided individuals with accessible therapy for people with physical, developmental and emotional disabilities, with life-changing results. 9. KLEIN FARMS DAIRY AND DAIRY, 410 Klein Road, Forks Township
Klein Farms is a working dairy farm with a store on the property selling products made with milk from its Holstein cows. A variety of cheeses and yoghurts are sold in the store as well as locally supported farm produce. Twenty-five different flavors of ice cream are available daily and made directly in store. 10. THE FARM, 3118 Sullivan Trail, Forks Township
LaFarm is a three-acre diversified vegetable farm owned by Lafayette College. The products, grown using organic methods, are distributed in the cafeterias on campus as well as to members of the Easton community. This year, the farm is switching to no-till farming methods. Staff will take a tour of the farm where they will demonstrate some of the methods they adopt and discuss the benefits and challenges they have encountered so far. Information: 484-212-1417.
11. RAUB’S FARMERS’ MARKET AND CORN LABYRINTH, 1429 Tatamy Road. Palmer Township
The Raub family has operated a farm in Palmer Township since 1918. Their store offers a wide variety of farm-fresh fruits and vegetables as well as a variety of homemade canned goods. 12. DALE KOEHLER & SON FARM, 4209 Freemansburg Avenue, Bethlehem Township
Dale Koehler & Son Farms is a family business operated by an eighth and ninth generation father and sons. This bicentenary farm, founded in 1789, specializes in beef, pork and grain production. A farmers market is located directly on this working farm selling beef, pork and eggs. Burnside Plantation is a restored historic farmhouse originally established in 1748 by Moravians James and Mary Burnside. The Monocacy Farm Project is a nonprofit educational farm that distributes organically grown produce to soup kitchens and food pantries throughout the Lehigh Valley. Unangst Tree Farms is a 190 acre Christmas tree and pumpkin farm. Its products are mainly sold through U-pick. Their fall products include pumpkins, decorations, apples and cider.
