The Aldridge Gardens Spring Plant Sale is scheduled for April 28-30

Aldridge Gardens will host its annual Spring Plant Sale from April 28-30.

The event, which is expected to feature nearly 1,000 plants, will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, April 28 and 29, and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 30.

As usual, there will be plenty of hydrangeas, as well as azaleas and a variety of pollinated plants, said landscape architect Rip Weaver. The inventory will mostly consist of shrubs, but there should also be some trees, he said. Sizes will range from a pint to 5 gallons, he said.

“It looks like we have a great selection of things to come,” Weaver said.

Some of the plants will be under $10, but prices will likely go up to $75 or more for items like some of the larger snowflake hydrangeas.

The Walking Tree Bonsai Nursery off Old Rocky Ridge Road will be part of the sale, along with several craft vendors selling items including tags and birdhouses, he said.

Other parts of this year’s event are also expected to include food trucks, as well as volunteers and master gardeners to help buyers select the right plants for their homes and give advice on placement, care and l ‘maintenance.

Some years the spring sale has brought in around $10,000 for Aldridge Gardens, but the average is probably closer to $5,000 to $7,000, Weaver said. The money from the sale is used to pay for improvement projects, such as expanding the irrigation system, replacing dead or diseased plants or creating more paths in the gardens that are accessible to people with disabilities.

Aldridge Gardens members will receive 10% off all purchases with their membership card. To find out more about the gardens and the sale, visit
